		<description>I actually agree with you. It&#039;s a celebration of god, but which god? Thousands of years ago the original god was the Sun itself. Later it was gods that were imagined as  anthropomorphic and eventually Mithra the Sun god&#039;s birth was celebrated on that date until Constantine converted to Christianity from Mithraism and thus moved Jesus&#039; (the light of the world, go figure) birthday to that date around 300 BCE.  

So Jesus is a new comer as far as these birth celebrations go. The latest in a long line of imagined gods who&#039;s birthday was celebrated near the Winter Soltice day.</description>
