I think Marcus&#039; &#039;weed in the path&#039; is an excellent metaphor and that metaphors are very useful in conveying concepts. 

Also to say we &#039;cannot know&#039; smacks of a logical fallacy known as a special pleading. I could just as easily claim that hyperintelligent invisible teddy bears are ruling the earth and &#039;stupid&#039; humans will never be able to understand or detect them.  </description>
