Tower of Babel

Today’s Bible story is from Genesis 11:1-9.

Once upon a time God killed everyone on Earth (almost).

This left Noah and few couples for repopulation (whoopee). After a series of begats, there arose a people who migrated to the Land of Shinar where they decided they were tired of just being mortal, so they planned on building a tower that would get them up to the sky where they could break through and hang out with God (the ancient Hebrews believed the sky was solid, only a few miles high, and that God lived on top of it).

Meanwhile God had become suspicious of their building activity and decided to parachute down for a closer look.

Eventually God figured out what was going on, became paranoid, and began talking to his imaginary friend:

(Genesis 11:6) “Look, they are one people, and they have all one language; and this is only the beginning of what they will do; nothing that they propose to do will now be impossible for them.”

So God told his imaginary friend that he will cause them to all speak different languages and scattered them across the Earth.

The End.

Epiloge:

Curiously God didn’t feel as threatened when the pyramids were constructed in Egypt and in Central America or when modern skyscrapers are constructed today because he doesn’t bother to come down to confuse our languages and scatter us anymore.
