I wasn't talking about random punches, I was talking about disciplining your children physically in any way. I'm from Sweden, where physical discipline is outlawed, and we have one of the safest, soundest societies on earth. You can teach your kid to be a good person without inflicting pain and humiliation. I'm sure parents for the most part love their children and do what they think is the best for them, but I still think it's despicable. (Similarly, male circumcision for religious reasons is an abhorrent practice that ought to be outlawed.)
